Hyderabad, Jan 26: YSR Congress and TRS will sweep the elections if they are held now. Jagan’s party also will win more number of Lok Sabha seats than any other party in Andhra Pradesh.
This is the result of ‘Mood of the Nation’, a survey by India Today and Nielsen. The survey also said that most Indians preferred the Gujarat Chief Minister Narender Modi to the Prime Minister’s post, to the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi. It said NDA has edge over UPA to come into power at the center.
According to the survey result released on Saturday, TRS and YSRCP will get more than 50 percent of the Assembly seats and will be able form government. While the survey makes it clear that the Congress party will not come back to power, it also shows that the YSRCP would emerge as the single largest party that would be able to form government if not on its own, with the support of like-minded parties in AP. The survey also said that the YSRCP might get 23 to 27 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats, which means the party would have a great say in the formation of the government at the center. 64 percent of those who were interviewed in the survey expressed the view that cases against Jagan were part of witch hunting.
The survey said most of the votes Congress polled in 2009 would now be shared by the YSRCP and TRS. The poll also said that the YSRCP would emerge as the largest party from AP in the Lok Sabha.
While Congress won 33 Lok Sabha seats in 2009, the survey says it will not get more than 8 seats. Congress which polled 52 percent votes in last elections, would get less than 18 percent, says the survey. Most of the votes lost by Congress would go in favour of TRS and YSRCP, said the survey.
The survey found that while the YSR Congress has winning chances in Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Regions, the TRS has chances in the Telangana region.
In a survey conducted on the Best Chief Minister with the Chief Ministers of 18 states in contest, AP Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy stood in the 8th place. The survey made it clear that the Congress under the leadership of Kiran Kumar Reddy had no chances of getting many seats.
