The Congress high command has reportedly reprimanded the Seemandhra leaders for making rounds to the national capital, opposing formation of Telangana State.

State ministers TG Venkatesh and Erasu Pratapa Reddy came here and met party’s Central leaders Vayilar Ravi and Ghulam Nabi Azad. It is learnt that both the leaders had strongly reprimanded them.

Stating that a decision on Telangana has already been taken, the two leaders told the ministers that they could leave the Congress if they want to.

Ravi reportedly told them that as there was a Jagan wave in the Seemandhra, Congress would get at least some seats in the Telangana region by taking a pro-Telangana stand. “How many seats (Lok Sabha) can you assure us, if the State is kept united?” Ravi reportedly questioned the duo. He told them that Congress would get at least 16 LS seats by conceding Telangana.

Ravi reportedly told the ministers that he knew that many would join the Jagan bandwagon and the State government would collapse if Telangana was conceded. He told them they were also free to leave the party and stated that the party would prepare a new team. Ravi also faulted the ministers for coming to Delhi after a decision was made and asked them if they ever agitated over their demand of a united AP.

When the two ministers met Azad, he also had not given any positive reply to them, said reports. He reportedly told them that the 2009 declaration on 'T' was a mistake and should not have been made. He also said it was wrong on the part of Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to have stated that decision on 'T' would be announced in one month. He should have simply said as he was new to the Home Ministry, he would require more time, Azad reportedly added.
